AAAAHHHHHH…now that it is over I feel AMAZING! The class tonight was packed and I was running late so I had to squeeze in. There was 10 of us in the class and Terri was there too. She is amazing! I was taking quick glances over at her from time to time in the beginning and then I just got to tired to care about what everyone else was doing. I was getting corrected a lot in the beginning and it is so weird because she did not call my name, but I just knew she was talking about me.

After class I came home and started to make Asparagus and took a shower down stairs for the first time. I have lived in this house for about a year and a half and this was my first time showering in the downstairs shower. I know weird right. It is more Nick’s shower then Sam and mine. Nick uses it a lot in the summer after runs after work.

When I was prepping the asparagus I pulled it out of the fridge and down came crashing my new Kombucha tea. I was like in slow-mo oh crap it is in a glass bottle. The only thing that broke was a piece of the lid. Thank goodness. Also, I made a Green Monster for dinner. It was a very GREEN dinner tonight.

I have decided and I am going to Bikram tonight and not kettlebells.

First, my lunch was awesome because I had the Pineapple Chobani which I was really hesitant to try and it was AMAZING! Probably my favorite so far. Also, I had an apple with almond butter and of course water. 0930091158

After school I stopped at an organic market called  Bonterra Market on my way to Dr. Dave’s (chiropractor). Terri has been telling me about this Synergy organic and raw tea and I had to try it. So I grabbed 2 bottles for Terri and I. Tell you about the tea later. Also, I picked up some Newman’s Own Organic 5g protein pretzels (the best in the world), can of organic pumpkin (Tina, they had a lot of cans of pumpkin. Sorry it took you a while to track yours down), and granola with pumpkin and flax. Can you tell I love pumpkin.

When I got to the office Terri had just gotten back from Bonterra and had her own tea, but now she has an extra for later. I took pictures of the office today!

Last night ended with breaking the fast (for Yom Kippur) and we ate lots of good food. I did not fast so I was not as hungry as everyone else. I had half of a blueberry bagel and two pieces of kugel. Also, I had a piece of cake. There was lots of food and it was buffet style. I took a picture, but snuck it so it is not that great.0928091829

On the way to dinner last night Sam opened a piece of my mail and I was invited to be a black card member. If you do not know what a black card is it is a special card that people have that spend a ton of money. A lot of celebrities own it and it is made out of carbon, has about a $500 annual fee, and comes with all sorts of perks like your own concierge when you travel.  I don’t know how I was invited to be a member (I don’t spend that much) it must have been a f look.

I was so excited for today to almost end because I went to a yoga class tonight and could not wait all day long. All I kept thinking about was yoga yoga yoga.   I had a great lunch today and brought back a summer time treat…cucarachas! That’s right dates with almond butter so YUM.

Just say no to soda:

I am also going to try to stay away from soda. All types of soda caffeine free and diet. I want to see if I can see a difference in my body and see how much soda has been affecting me. So if you see me with a soda or a picture of it on my blog yell at me and slap me out of it. I am going to try my hardest not to. I told Sam and he said ok I will drink them all and then you don’t have to buy any more. What a great hubby!

So after school I went to watch Jen my cousin (Sam’s cousin) play her first field hockey game. She is in 8th grade and just started this year. She is really good and has a great hit. It seems like I go to a lot of games and yeah you are right, but this is a different cousin who is in 8th grade and the other 2 are twins who are Freshman in high school and are playing Varsity.

DILEMMA:

So my dilemma is that I have not been to kettlebells in a long time and I really want to go tomorrow night, but right after that class is Bikram and I really want to go to that too. I don’t know what I should do. I need to fix their schedule because they CAN NOT have 2 great classes back to back. I could try kettlebells and take it easy and then do Bikram. NO NO that would just be insane. HELP!!!! What shall I do??? HELP !!

Happy Holidays

Howdy everyone! Today I had off of work or took off of work because it is a Jewish Holiday (Yom Kippur) today.

Yom Kippur is probably the most important holiday of the Jewish year. Many Jews who do not observe any other Jewish custom will refrain from work, fast and/or attend synagogue services on this day. The name “Yom Kippur” means “Day of Atonement,” and that pretty much explains what the holiday is. It is a day set aside to “afflict the soul,” to atone for the sins of the past year.

Sam did not fast today and either did I. Maybe next year I will try to make it the whole day. I get VERY grumpy if I do not eat. Sam can not fast because he gets migraines if he does not eat and is also taking medication for his migraines which makes him exempt. I sadly have no excuse and I will definitely try next year. I am taking vitamins if that counts as medication…haha. Didn’t think I could get away with that.

Sam and I went to synagogue this morning which was not too bad and torture-ess. It was about 2 1/1 or 3 hours and then we came home changed and like good Jews ate lunch. Shame on me

I am just upset and going through yoga withdraw. I need me some yoga. I can not go to any classes today since it is the Holiday, but maybe I will do some from Exercise TV.  I really want to get this new mat and bag. Do you know of any good yoga DVDs??

Bikram…YAY!! I attended my first Bikram class today and I loved all 90 minutes of it. Well, there were times when I was looking at the clock saying oh my god is it almost over yet. It was super hot in there. 105 degrees to be exact. Let me tell you I was sweating all over my body and I could see the sweat rolling down my legs…GROSS. It is really hard for me to sweat, but I guess anybody would doing anything in 105 degrees.

You might ask what is Bikram? Bikram is a series of 26 postures and two breathing techniques that are designed to move fresh, oxygenated blood to one hundred percent of your body, to each organ and fiber, restoring all systems to healthy working order, just as Nature intended. With the really hard poses I just stayed with what I could do or made my own modifications. There were 7 of us in the class and I was right in the middle in between the 2 heaters. Since it was my first time I watched others since the instructor did not do any of the poses and just sat and nicely commanded each movement. It reminded me of dirty dancing when Baby was learning how to dance and they were teaching her the moves and counting off the steps. I know bad analogy, but that is what popped in my head during the class.

I picked up some bagels from next door and then drove home soaking wet. I fixed myself a blueberry bagel and some hot tea and relaxed by watching the ending of Encino Man. Great Movie!

Homework!

I am all finished with school and I still have homework over the weekend. I guess that is what to expect when you are working in a school. I so wish I could find a teaching job, but this is great for now and I really don’t mind what I do at all. I am a teacher’s assistant in a Kindergarten classroom. I really do enjoy most of the kids so far this year. They are really mature and so smart compared to last year they are all angels. Last years class was horrible and little terrors (not all, but most). My homework is to teach a new program (Fundations) that the school got to a small group of students everyday. YAY! I get to teach…I can’t wait I am excited. There is a whole process so I popped in the CD and went over all the videos and pronunciations of the letter and how they want you to say and model stuff for the students. There is also this really cute owl puppet that you use so the students know when to echo you…his name is echo and his head can turn around. There is a big echo and a little echo aren’t they so cute???fun_kit

A couple of days ago Caitlin from Healthy Tipping Point had a giveaway from Waterpik and I really wanted to win and try it out. Of course I did not win, but my wonderful hubby also wanted to try it so he went onto Amazon and purchased one for the both of us to share. It is so cool. The unit is small and does not take up to much space, but is kind of loud on the higher intensity levels. I really don’t mind the noise though. It has different tips to put on it like a toothbrush, massager, and 2 waterpik tips. You can turn it on and have different levels of intensity and there is also a button on the handle so you can pause the water from shooting out and there is a cool spiral cord so it doesn’t get in the way. The hubby and I are not fighting over it, but there is somewhat of a race to see who gets to use it first at night and in the morning. I am totally a BIG fam of WATERPIK.  If you do not have one you definitely should get one because it is really great and you can clean your tongue too. 0926091329a0926091329Also, I have these really gross things called Tonsil stones and have no idea why I get them and either does my dentist and doctor. I don’t get them all the time just once in a while and hopefully this will help in that situation. Maybe this will solve my problem for good. Lets Hope so.

Tonight my mom came home from FL. So glad to see her and she brought me back a T-shirt…YAY. It is really cute, but looked really small for my size. I was worried, but would always help her go back and return it if it meant going to Key West (never been, but after looking at her pictures would love to go) with her. I tried it on and it was not to bad. Nice fit and so excited the kettlebells and yoga seem to be working. Can’t wait to shred this weight. I can totally tell a difference in my body and clothes, but have not been on the scale in a long time since I have read Natalie’s post about “How much do you weigh?” (How the scale is not how you should measure your fitness success).

Since it is now officially fall, this weekend is Fall Funfest so my mom and I walked a couple blocks from my house to check it all out. They had a live band, people selling their arts and crafts, food, and games for the kids. It was pretty neat. We went later at night so it was not cold and people were starting to pack up so we did not have to dodge any crowds. They even had a rock climbing wall and I was really tempted to play a game so I could try to win Bru a new stuffed animal. I remember when I was little and tried to win them for me and now I am trying to win them for my dog. WOW…have I come full circle or what. Does this mean I am old???0926091827

I am rambling on and on and this is getting pretty long, but I am just enjoying writing. Since I am on a roll I mid as well continue with what I made for dinner for my mom and the hubby. I started with making some sweet potato fries, chicken and angel hair pasta. Nothing fancy here just all quick and easy. The sauce was out of a jar, the chicken had a pre-made desert rub (from my moms cousin who is a chef) on it which was REALLY SPICY and my mouth was on fire.0926091939a09260919390926091940

I didn’t realize it was sooooo late and I was just rambling. I am so tired and I am going to bed. I am debating on wheter to go to my first Bikram yoga class tomorrow. Everyone I talk to keeps telling me I have to try it and I really want to, but an hour and half in 105 degrees is a long time. I am a little nervous to try it. I will see what time I wake up tomorrow and just play it by ear.

YOGA:

I am really loving yoga and never thought I would enjoy it this much. Never have I ever…thought I would be counting the days till the next yoga class. I went to kettlebells the other night and it was like my own personal class because it was just me and the instructor which was great because I got some one on one. After the class ended there was a yoga class and so I was talked into staying (which did not take to much convincing on their part) and it was just 2 of us in the class. We got to do a lot of poses and even tried a headstand using the blocks. I am a little afraid of headstands and going all the way upside down because I feel out of control. Maybe next time it will be easier. After the class the teacher said that I was really good and after practicing for a while that she can’t wait to see how good I will become. It really mad me feel good about myself. I can already feel myself getting into the poses easier and deeper and can’t wait to see more progress in myself. The body is capable of so much and I can not wait to see what my body can do.

Friday and I got Homework

First I want to start by saying I am loving my new breakfast treat. The past 2 days I have had a Vita Top and it is like eating dessert for breakfast. I can’t believe this thing is healthy and only 100 calories. Hard to believe. LOVE IT!!!! I can’t wait to try other flavors. 0925090829

Today was dress down day which was great because I hate dressing up most of the time. Sometimes it is ok, but today was great to through on a pair of jeans and plus it was pay day…YAYYYY! For lunch I packed leftover stir fry and 2 kiwis. 0925091204When I got home I relaxed for a bit and then headed over to watch Emily and Molly (Sam’s cousins, well my cousins too now) play field hockey. I could not pass up this game because they played Ocean City, the town I grew up in. OC has always been REALLY REALLY good. They still are because they won 8-0. WOW! A shut out. Supposedly that is how all there games are. No one can score against them. The team is required to play all year and not play any other sports and in the summer they have to go to a special camp where college students go. CRAZY.

I have homework this weekend:

At work we are starting a new program with some of the kids called Fundations. Some of the schools around here do it as a whole class instruction, but the school I am in is just going to start it out with the students who really need extra help. So I will be working with 4-5 students during centers or writers workshop. It is a really cute approach and can’t wait to start. It will be like I am teaching again. Getting to come up with different lessons and stuff. There is a manual, but I will have my own spin and little group to teach.

Dinner and a Package:

After the game I stopped at Yama to pick up dinner and I ordered salmon terriyaki (for Sam), Tobiko, Hawaiian roll, sunny California, sweet potato, and some age tofu.09250918100925091810b0925091810a I had a package waiting for me when I got home. I was surprised because I haven’t ordered anything lately. I opened it up and it was a pedometer. I HAVE NO CLUE were it came from. It was pretty cool though a little cheap, but always nice to get a surprise. I also got my first Runner’s World magazine. Can’t wait to read it.09250918070925091832
